This win will definitely add to my confidence going to the US PGA Tour School next week

- Ross McGowan

Ross McGowan produced a marvellous final round performance to romp to a six-shot victory at the Abu Dhabi Golf Citizen Open.

Starting the day two shots off the lead, McGowan finished 12 under par after firing a five under 67 – his lowest round of the week - at Saadiyat Beach Golf Club.

McGowan made birdies on the second, sixth and eighth to take the outright lead and continued to flourish en route to sealing a fine win at the second event on the 2012 MENA Golf Tour.

"Basically, I stuck to my game plan and making those early birdies kind of put me on the road to victory," said McGowan, who received the winner's trophy and a cheque for $9,000.

"My swing is back on track, and that's quite satisfying. This win will definitely add to my confidence going to the US PGA Tour School next week.

"I have played this Saadiyat course about 30 to 40 times, and obviously local knowledgehelped in getting the distances right. Also, I was able to judge wind directions better."
