ISM Champions Shine in Akron

Two of our 2010 champions finished in the top ten in the WGC - Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone in Ohio.

Open Champion, Louis Oosthuizen, finished on five under par for the tournament after rounds of 72, 70, 68 and finally a flawless 65 which shot him up the leaderboard where he finished in a tie for 9th. Hunter Mahan won the event on twelve under par.

Joining Louis on the same score was Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy, 2010 Quail Hollow champion,  who played very consisently during the week with rounds of 68, 69, 69, and 69.

South Africa's Ernie Els was in a good position after his first three rounds of 69, 70 and 64 but a 76 due to troubles with the short stick, put paid to his chances of the title.

Ross McGowan, making his debut appearance in the Bridgestone finished in a tie for 55th on five over par.

South Africa's Charl Schwartzel finished in a tie for 58th on six over par, whilst compatriot James Kingston was a shot back on seven over in a tie for 63rd.

The English duo, Simon Dyson and David Horsey both finished in a tie for 71st on eleven over par.

World number three Lee Westwood was forced to withdraw after the second round in Akron due to his recurrent calf injury - Lee has also withdrawn from the USPGA Championship at Whistling Straits in the hope that he will be fully recovered in time for the Ryder Cup at the beginning of October.

It's all eyes on Whistling Straits next week where all the above players will be joined by Darren Clarke and Chris Wood for the final major of the year - the USPGA Championship.
