Disappointment in the Glens

Simon DysonThe Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles was the last tournament to count for the Ryder Cup with Ross McGowan needing a top two finish and Simon Dyson needing a win.

 

Ross was forced to withdraw before the second round due to a pinched nerve in his shoulder so that put paid to his chances.

 

Dyson, however, was in good shape after shooting 68, 70 and 70 in the first three rounds. On the final day the wind blew in fine style at Gleneagles and Simon could only add a 74 which left him on six under par, four shots behind winner Edoardo Molinari who claimed one of Monty's wild cards for Celtic Manor in October. The other two going to Padraig Harrington and Luke Donald.

 

We have two representatives in the Ryder Cup team, Lee Westwood and Rory McIlroy.

 

Gary Lockerbie had a good week at Gleneagles and a return to form saw him finish in a tie for 26th on one under par.

 

Michael Lorenzo-Vera finished in a tie for 35th on level par as did Ireland's Paul McGinley. Jeev Milkha Singh finished in a tie for 42nd on one over par and Richard Finch was at four over par in a tie for 51st. Richard had his second hole in one as a professional on Saturday after a six iron at the 6th dropped in the hole.
