In 2007, Tyrone won the Western Province Amateur tournament, Free State Open, Mpumalanga Open and Eastern Province Strokeplay to finish the South African Amateur season ranked number one.

In the opening round of the 2008 Joburg Open, Tyrone raced to the top of the leaderboard with a score of six under before finishing tied ninth on his professional debut.

Less than three months later, Tyrone tasted his first professional victory on the Sunshine Tour at the Chainama Hills Zambia Open earning himself a two year exemption.

After a serious car accident in 2010, Tyrone receovered from a broken leg to win his second tournament as a professional, the SAA Pro-Am Invitational - Randpark and following this with a 5th position the following week.
