Although her parents are both English, Flory was born in Germany where she has spent her years growing up. As a daughter of a club professional in Hamburg, she found herself with a golf club in hand at a very young age. A talented sportswoman, Flory was county champion in both tennis and table tennis. However, her preferable sport was golf and she gave up playing tennis and table tennis competitively to concentrate on her golf.
Flory enjoyed much success as an amateur with her highlights including being part of the Junior Ryder Cup, Junior Solheim Cup and Curtis Cup teams. Her biggest success as an amateur was winning The French Under 21 Championship. As well as playing much of her golf in Germany, Flory competed in the UK as an amateur where she was Lancashire county champion in 2006. She is also a member of Royal Birkdale which is her favourite course and she plays there when she is visiting her family in England.
At the age of 19, she went to the Ladies European Qualifying School and secured her card on The Ladies European Tour for the 2009 season. As a young rookie on Tour, Flory enjoyed much success finishing in the top 10 in 2 tournaments last year – The Portugal Ladies Open and the AIB Ladies Irish Open. These performances helped her finish 24th on The Ladies European Tour Order of Merit and second on the Rookie of the year Order of Merit so a very promising start for Flory.
